We’ve featured the lovely Color Me Katie before. She does some amazing and very sweet things with simple coloured paper. We’re taking inspiration from her on how to decorate your parties in original and quirky, and more importantly budget, ways!
I feel we underestimate the power of paper these days what with projectors projecting snow falling inside our homes or the gigantic mechanical santa+sleigh that adorn the odd roof. Not that I don’t adore these ridiculous decorations but remember good old paper won’t you!
That is the power of paper right there. I LOVE.
However, on a smaller and less paper cut inducing scale let us not forget the humble paper snowflake. I like the idea of using old books or newspapers to make them that little bit different.

What a sweet idea! Paper plane chains.
This would be a perfect and simple way to jazz up a going away party.
I wish I’d seen this earlier as two of our buddies have moved abroad and these would have been perfect for farewell shindigs.
